Give Up Initiative

Warren Hurst Executive Officer has committed himself to the task of giving up something important to him for the first week of every month.

JewishCare’s Youth Mentoring Program is currently seeking Mentors !



Do you have a positive attitude, some life experience behind you, and an interest in supporting young people in our community?

Jewish Care's Youth Mentoring program is seeking interested people, 26+ to become mentors for young Jewish adults aged 16-25 years, who may be facing obstacles or challenges in their lives. Having support of a mentor is likely to increase the young person’s self-esteem and confidence, empowering them to make important decisions about their lives.

There is a commitment period of approximately 2-4 hours per fortnight with the young person, for a contracted period of 6-12 months.

Next training: Sunday 19th February 2012 10am-3:30pm

It’s the opportunity to make a REAL difference to a young person's life.

Jolly January


January is a time for making changes and creating new plans for the year ahead.
1. Healthier Lifestyle – part of the Swap It, Don’t Stop It campaign the Australian Government are offering a free 12 week planner that includes short and long term goals and meal and exercise tips. For more info visit http://swapit.gov.au/

2. Great food tip for the week – Eat Eggs:
- They are quick, easy and versatile.
- Have the highest nutritional quality protein of all food sources.
- Contain 11 different vitamins and minerals, including vitamin B, vitamin b12, vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E and vitamin K.
- A great source of omega-3 fats (the healthy fats), which can have significant benefits for the heart and blood vessels.
- Due to the variety of nutrients found in eggs, they are an ideal food to include in the diets of older adults.
- May help treat acne, as they lower the glycaemic load of the diet.

3. Do you have a green finger?

Welcome to 2012

2012 promises to be a very exciting year for JewishCare.


Happy New Year to everyone. Let us hope 2012 will be a great year for all of us.


The official opening of the new building (Fischl House) is planned for October by which stage we should have had a few months occupying the new premises. There is no doubt this will mark a new chapter for JewishCare and in fact for the entire Sydney Jewish community.
